They are the only British Columbian cities to be ranked within the top fifty in the Best Places to Live Canada in the Money Sense 2012 survey. How about that? We beat out larger cities in the Lower Mainland/Greater Vancouver areas! One indicator of our rapid progress is the fact that Kamloops has jumped a whopping 58 positions since the last survey in 2011 from 102nd to 44th place!
For those of us who have lived in Kamloopsfor any length of time, this is no big surprise. Our city government is constantly monitoring our progress and looking for ways to make our city better. Zoning laws and community planning is aimed at making this a supremely comfortable place to live, raise our families and even retire. Growth is monitored and encouraged. As a result, we have a diverse business atmosphere and a wide job base offering employment at many levels, encouraging people from all walks of life to settle here and grow with us.
Kamloopsis a truly family-oriented community. Our school system is top notch. Our healthcare is among the best in the province. We have a wealth of parks, recreational facilities, museums, libraries, and family-oriented activities for the benefit of our multi-generational community. Safety and emergency services are taken very seriously. As a result, we know that if disaster of any kind were to strike, we would be well cared for and able to recover quickly.
Our weather is among the best in the country. We are near enough to urban centers for easy access, but far enough away to afford us a more rural way of life if we choose it. This is right in the middle of the breadbasket of the province. Fresh fruit and vegetables are readily available, and if you like wine … we have some excellent vineyards and vintages to choose from!
